Taking Care Of You
Making a claim and going through the legal process can seem very daunting on top of everything else you may be experiencing at this difficult and stressful time.
Everything Explained
At Irwin Mitchell we understand your anxiety, so right from our first conversation and every step of the way we will ensure that everything is explained to you fully and support you throughout the lifetime of the claim.
Key Contact
As our client you will have a team of professionals working on your case. You will be assigned a dedicated lawyer who will act as your key point of contact and who will have overall responsibility for ensuring your legal team work as hard as possible to achieve the best outcome for you and your family.
No Compromise
Every case we deal with is unique and every client we see has different needs, so it is difficult to estimate how long your claim will take to resolve. Many simple claims can be resolved within months but more usually they take a year or even longer. The timeframe really depends on how quickly you are recovering and how complex the claim is. Your claim cannot be settled until medical experts are able to assess what the future is likely to hold for you in respect of recovery or any residual problems you may suffer.
Unfortunately there is no short cut to resolution. Good work takes time and we will never compromise where quality of life and your future is at stake.

Making A Claim
The Stages Of Your Claim
Firstly we will investigate your case thoroughly by gathering witness statements, medical expert evidence, looking at the financial impact and losses that you may have occurred and any other relevant documents that are needed.
Once we have gathered all the information we feel is necessary, a full investigation of the circumstances leading to your injury or illness can be made and we will let you know the likely outcome of the claim.
If you wish to make a claim, on your behalf, we would then put forward the claim to the party who was at fault and their insurance company.
Most claims are settled before they go to Court. However, some will go to Court but we will keep you informed and we will be with you, every step of the way.
All Scottish cases will be handled by the Scottish law firm with which we are associated, Irwin Mitchell Scotland LLP. The law relating to funding is different in Scotland and you will receive separate advice about what that means as well as a separate funding agreement.
*To make a No Win No Fee claim, you need to enter into an agreement that's linked to a suitable insurance policy. We'll explain this in more detail before we start your claim.
